Apothecia: 2-4 mm in diameter, with prominent menbranaceous margin, hymenium orange
Asci: 250-295(-315) x 19-25(-27) µm, 8-spored, spores uniseriate
Ascospores: globose, (16-)18-20(-22) µm (inclusive ornamentation), ornamentation consisting of ridges (0.3-)0.8-3(-4) µm wide and 0.5-1.5(-2.5) µm high, forming a reticulum with 3-5 irregular sized meshes/diameter, sometimes the reticulum is more regular.
Host: Ceratodon purpureus, Pleuridium acuminatum
Distribution: Canary Islands, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany (SH, TH), Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, The Netherlands
Note : In north and central Europe only found on Ceratodon purpureus with ascospores mostly 18-20 µm in diameter. In contrast, some collections from southern Europe are associated with Pleuridium with ascospores 20-25 µm in diameter (Rubio et al. 2002, Vega et al. 2013).
